2020 Annual Election Meeting
10/8/2020

Due to lack of ballots submitted, we are short of meeting our Quorum requirements for holding our Annual Election on 10/13/20.  Currently we have 22 ballots.  We need 30 to hold an election.

As a result, we will reschedule the Election meeting for October 20, 2020 at which time we should have the required number of ballots to hold the Election meeting.

Due to Covid 19, the meeting will be held by video and teleconference.  If you would like to see the counting of the ballots and the results of the election, notify management, and a link will be sent to you.

No Fireworks are allowed inside the Oasis Community

Letter from the HOA President:
May 18th, 2020
Dear fellow Oasis owners,
I trust this year’s posting finds you all healthy and enduring. The challenges given all of us during this pandemic can put prior events in better context. May we all continue to be safe and ready with a
positive approach to what the future holds for us!
As you have hopefully noticed, we have been able to continue to maintain our beautiful environment with limited impact. While our landscapers have been diligent in taking care of our grounds, we have
also reaped the reward of the rather wet spring, and been able to reduce our landscaping water usage.
Our cherry trees have been treated to minimize their fruit droppings (often a mess), and our palms were all trimmed later than normal this year when the season was right. As of this writing, most all of our
community is green and welcoming, and I hope you appreciate the efforts of the Landscape Committee
as well as the maintainers making that happen.
The COVID-19 pandemic has unfortunately delayed one of our favorite events of the year: the opening of the community pool area. The County of Los Angeles has extended their closure of both public and
private community pools as well as fitness areas. At this point there is no tentative date for a reopening,
but our property management as well as your Board will work to open those common areas as soon as safely possible.
The health emergency has also impacted your HOA’s Board of Directors meetings. No meetings or gatherings are currently permitted by the State of California. Know that your Board continues to review monthly status information from our property management such as financial statements, but for now we have not conducted any other Board business outside those meetings. We all hope that we can be provided guidance that will allow us to resume our meetings this summer.
Lastly, due to legal challenges, your current Board of Directors was not formally seated until June of 2019, and annual elections were planned to seat the 2020 Board at that time. Changes to the State of California election rules were implemented early this year, which require 90-day postings of candidates as well as electors to count votes. This will unfortunately delay our next election until the September timeframe. You should see Board applications in your mailbox within the next week or two, and I encourage you to mail in your ballot as soon as practical.
I also encourage you to register for and visit the Oasis website (www.oasispatiohomes.com), where all our important governing documents reside, forms (like parking and clubhouse rental), our HOA meeting schedule, and contact information for the Board and Property Management. Simply follow the prompts to register if you haven’t already done so.
Once again, thank you for your patience and support as your Board works to keep our community safe, beautiful and welcoming.
Sincerely,
Dan Buehler, Oasis HOA President

Dear fellow Oasis owners,
Summer has finally arrived in force after a long and damp spring, the pool has been opened on time, and after a bumpy election process, your new Board has finally been seated. This year we welcome two new owners to your Board, which I trust will continue to represent each of you with enthusiasm. Please join me in welcoming Heather Parry and Mike Singleton to our team, and make sure you thank them when you see them for volunteering their time to help manage our beautiful homes.
You may have noticed that there was a flurry of activity to get the pool ready in time this year. Thanks in large measure to the efforts of the Pool Committee, we were able to have the deck repainted to fix the peeling paint problem. Due to their diligence in enforcing the warranty of the paint manufacturer, this re-paint came at no cost to your HOA, and we are hoping the issues with that surface are now behind us. The new surface does scratch, however, so we ask that guests in the pool area be aware of that issue when moving our older metal furniture around. In addition to the pool deck paint, we had to comply with State of California rules that required us to empty the pool, perform an acid wash of the walls and bottom, and refill. In an effort to keep the pool sparkling clean, we will be installing some see-through cloth netting on the south fence to minimize dust, leaves and debris getting into the pool, reducing strain on the pump and filter. You may have already seen the tarps currently in place as a test for this concept, and it has been successful enough that it has reduced skimming the pool surface from once or twice a day to a few times a week!
The only other significant unplanned expense incurred over the past year was damage to our centerpiece fountain. Repairs have finally been completed and the fountain is once again providing its “Welcome Home to the Oasis” display.
We will once again be updating our annual Reserve Expenditures list, and will continue to keep an eye on upcoming replacement expenses. Our largest potential bill remains the replacement of our 30-year-old roofs. So far, our roofs have been resilient and have exceeded their design life. I believe this to be the first year in many that we had no emergency repairs to complete, even though we had such a rainy winter and spring. Your Board continues to look for opportunities to minimize impacts to our reserve fund.
This past year we also managed to update our CC&R’s to stay in compliance with California law. Your Board thanks each and every one of you for voting on that important change.
If possible, please register for and visit the Oasis website (www.oasispatiohomes.com). There you can find all our important governing documents, forms (like parking and clubhouse rental), our HOA meeting schedule, and contact information for the Board and Property Management. To gain access, please contact your Website Committee chairperson Janet at [email protected], who will verify ownership and provide you with a temporary password.
Once again, thank you for the continued support of, and interest in, our beautiful community, as your Board works to improve everything Oasis!
Sincerely,
Dan Buehler, Oasis HOA President
